Fight and Fitness rock San Francisco Golden Gloves
THE GOLDEN GLOVES APRIL 2-3
For those of you that missed it, the Golden Gloves tournament was amazing.
Thousands turned out for the 74th edition of this prestigious tournament.
The event was held at it’s longtime home, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in
San Francisco, for the first time since 1985. Fight and Fitness had three
fighters competing: Chris Cariaso, Brett Prior, and Bubba Holland. Thanks to
Paris Alexander, our beloved boxing coach, all of these amazing fighters
performed extremely well.
Bubba fought first in the novice division (under 20 years old.) He overpowered
his opponent both with strength and spirit and scored a second round TKO.
His second and third match went the distance, but Bubba dominated overall
and earned himself a championship.
Chris entered the ring next and completely dominated his unsuspecting
opponent. Chris’ power was too much for him, and he TKO’d him early in the
third round. In the semi-finals, Chris did it again and earned another second
round TKO. The finals for Chris went the distance but not without excitement.
Chris landed many more shots than he received and in the end, got a
unanimous decision. Chris also headed into the realm of the Golden Glove
Champions.
Brett Prior fought his premiere match and did an amazing job. He came out
hard and landed many, many shots on his opponent. He fought with a lot of
heart and we were extremely proud of his performance. In the end, the judges
scored the match against him. It was a controversial decision, but
unfortunately that is just how it goes sometimes!
We would also like to congratulate Richard Hargraves from the Straight
Forward Club. Rich often trains with our fighters and we consider him part of
our team as well. Rich dominated both his matches and he also came out
with a Golden Gloves Championship. Congratulations to all of our fighters!.
