FnF FIGHTERS REIGN OVER FRESNO FIGHTS WITH 3 WINS
It was an exciting night of fights for the FnF fans that took the 3 hour drive to Fresno. Giovanni Napolitano, Damien Noorbakhsh, and Ray Juachon all competed and came home with a victory.
Damien started out the night's excitement with a match against Navarro's Ricardo Monteresso from San Francisco. Damien dominated the entire 3 rounds with powerful kicks to the neck and hand flurries that had Ricardo's head spinning. Ricardo tried answering back but into the second round he had taken too much punishment and was struggling to hold on. Damien's power and determination was too much for his opponent and he received the unanimous decision in this bout. Damien's victory dance was quite a crowd pleaser and his trophy had to be replaced when it flew at a high velocity into the cheering crowd. Oh and did I mention that he rescued a terrified Chihuahua that was running through traffic during his pre-fight lunch? Talk about good Karma-great job Damien.
Ray was up next against hometown boy, Ruben Riviera from Fresno. Ruben came out very aggressively in the first round with long kicks and foot jabs. Ray's superior timing played key in this round as he slipped the kicks and answered back. At one point, a hard right kick to the body slammed Ruben off of his feet and on to the floor. Ray finished off the round with some leg kicks that turned Ruben's thigh bright red. Ruben was a tough opponent and continued coming at Ray for all 3 rounds but wasn't able to land enough shots effectively and Ray received the decision. Another great win for FnF.
The last fight of the night for FnF was Giovanni Napolitano against Fresno's Kirk Floyd. This was Giovanni's first amateur fight and a few days before the match, his original opponent backed out. Giovanni valiantly accepted a crazy challenge to fight for the state title against Floyd, who would be entering the ring with 7 amateur fights. What an exciting match!! Giovanni was smiling from ear to ear as he defended against Floyd's arsenal of kicks and hard hands. Giovanni would answer back with a flurry of punches followed by huge straight knees. His hands were effectively moving his opponent back and so he continued this game plan all 3 rounds. At one point in the second round, Giovanni flew across the ring with a flying knee that caught Floyd against the ring. The crowd was going wild for this match and Giovanni looked like he was having the time of his life. In the end, a total upset for Fresno-Giovanni received a unanimous decision and walked away with a new state title and fancy belt. Awesome job Giovanni and great show! Congratulations to all the fighters on this show -- it was well worth the drive!!
