Female Fury Results 10/25/2008

WCSC put on an all female card last night at the Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco. The show ran very smoothly with 13 well matched bouts. Fight and Fitness was lucky to have 4 of our new fighter s competing: Agualuna Romeo, Gabby Aguinaldo, Colleen Schneider, and Malia Spanyol.

Aqualuna started off the night against Pacific Ring Sports, Diane Payes. This was her first fight but it certainly did not look like it. Aqualuna trained very hard for this fight and it was very evident. She looked amazing- showing composure, skill, and “thai style” rhythm. Her opponent was game but Aqualuna was able to dominate the match and win a unanimous decision.

Next up was Gabby Aguinaldo versus Lea Zamoa of Team Black. Gabby and Lea battled each other for 3 grueling rounds. Lea was a very aggressive and skilled fighter but Gabby held her own. Lea attacked the whole fight with Gabby answering back with flurries of great punches. Gabby showed awesome heart and gave 100%. Unfortunately Lea was awarded the win but it was an exciting fight to watch.

In the eighth fight of the night, Colleen Schneider battled Amber Pope from Santa Clara. Colleen, who also trains in TKD, displayed some of her great kicks. Amber answered back with heavy hands. Amber etched out the win after 3 rounds of action.

Malia Spanyol fought against Unlimited Kickboxing’s Marisella Badillo. This was a great fight of back and forth action. Malia pushed forward the entire bout with great kicks and knees. Marisella countered her with hard punches on the inside. After four rounds, the fight was called a majority draw. Hopefully a future rematch will decide who the champ is!

Congratulations to all the girls for great performances. Hopefully they will all be fighting again soon!
