Showdown at Six Flags! FnF results....
Congratulations to FnF fighters: Jonathon Ortega, Erik Alignay, and Peter Liang for outstanding performances this week-end at the Showdown at Six Flags. We had our hardcore group of FnF fans battling the hot sun for many hours. It was a fun and crazy day!
Jonathon really impressed us with his debut amateur fight. He fought against Gabe from Universal Martial Arts in Concord. He showed great heart and skill as he continually countered Gabe’s attacks and landed crisp kicks. In the later rounds both fighters landed in the clinch where Jonathon clearly controlled the action. Gabe landed on the mats more than a few times with Jonathon skillful turns. We thought Jonathon did enough to win the fight but the judges didn’t see it our way. The split decision went to Gabe from Universal Martial Arts.
Erik battled Marlon Tello from Fairfield Muay Thai. This was an action packed battle from start to finish. Erik moved forward and landed hard kicks and punches. Marlon answered back with punches to Erik’s chin. It was the clinch that closed the deal and Erik almost ended it in the second with powerful straight knees to his belly. In the last round, Erik really showed his dominance as he followed Marlon around the ring and controlled the action. Erik received the well-deserved decision.
In the last bout, Peter fought against a tough competitor from Voodoo Kickboxing (sorry, I don’t know his name.) Peter’s calm, collective style instantly through off his opponent. His opponent came out strong with a barrage of punches. Peter answered easily and knocked him back with a punch of his own. He proceeded to systematically pick apart his opponent with perfectly executed leg kicks, head kicks, and punches. In the second round, Peter though a perfect left hook to the body which crumbled him to the ground. He followed it up with a hard leg kick and ended it with a kick to the neck. Peter wins by knock out in the second round.
